TopHelpful Tips
Christmas Island:
Car Hire is essential to get around the island as there is no public transport and lots of jungle and off road tracks to be explored. A RAV4 is recommended when driving in the Jungle as tracks can be quite steep. Sedan hire is also available.
Cocos Island:
All accommodation properties are located on West Island and walking distance from the Airport hence transfers are FREE as a representative from the accommodation will walk you to your accommodation.
All properties are either 10km North or South of the nearest swimming beach, Trannies. None of the properties facing the lagoon have beach access as the reef is very shallow and sharp and not ideal for swimming.
Airline Information
AustAsia Airlines:
AA is a charter service operated by Silk Air flying from Singapore to Dili twice a week. Flight details including times of departure and day of travel, can be looked at via any CRS but package seats can only be booked and issued by Island Explorer Holidays. Published fare tickets can be issued by any AustAsia Airlines representative or through or CRS.
AIOTA:
Australian Indian Ocean Terrotories Airline is a charter company operated by Malaysian Airlines. Flights depart and return to Kuala Lumpur from/to Christmas Island on Mondays only. Package fares are to be booked through Island Explorer Holidays.
Virgin Blue:
Seat availability can be checked through Island Explorer Holidays. All package bookings must be held by Island Explorer Holidays. Virgin Blue will only allow package flights to be held for a maximum of 7 days and all other GO, Bluesaver and Flexi Fare are Instant Purchase. Corporate Plus and Premium Economy Fares have a 48 hour hold period.
